Walking is an exercise that has so many health benefits that it is hard to believe. Yet, most people hardly walk more than a few steps as they have a busy schedule and use an automobile to cover distances. I love walking and try to discover places where walking is pleasurable. Besides helping in losing weight and keeping my heart healthy, walking also improves my mood instantly. Here is a list of my favorite places in Los Angeles for walking.
Echo Park Lake
Echo Park Lake is one of my personal favorites. One round of this park constitutes nearly a mile or close to 2000 steps. The best part of walking in this park is the large numbers of lotus plants and their blooms that you can see while walking. Of course, you also get to see the ducks, geese, and turtles swimming in the lake as you walk in the park. This park is just a minute walk from downtown LA.
Venice Beach is perhaps the best beach in Los Angeles for avid walkers. Famous for its open-air gym called Muscle Beach, walking here in a loop is quite fun. You enjoy watching all the beachgoers as well as the skaters in the skateboard park. It is an experience unto itself looking at the beautiful graffiti done by artists on the graffiti walls. You can bring your dog along with you though it should be leashed.
Lake Hollywood Reservoir
This is a real gem even for the walkers, as many don’t know the beautiful walking experience. The total distance you can cover on the paved path in Lake Hollywood reservoir is 3.2 miles. It is going to be a mesmerizing experience if you have come here for the first time. It is because you get beautiful views of the water and also the world-famous Hollywood sign from here. You will come across many joggers and bikers on this trail. Thankfully, no cats and dogs are allowed on this trail.
I go to this park whenever I need a peaceful walk in the womb of Mother Nature. It is a lush green large park in Santa Monica close to Ocean Avenue. Walking in this park is enjoyable because of the stunning views of the ocean. You also feel good all the time because of the palm trees and the velvety grass all around. Whether you are with friends or soaking in the fresh sea breeze alone, you will feel good whenever you come here to walk for a few minutes.
Exposition Park Rose Garden
Do you love roses? If yes, then you cannot resist the temptation of visiting Exposition Park Rose Garden in Los Angeles. One loop of this park will give you more than 4000 steps, which means you can walk more than 2 miles in a single loop. The best part of taking a walk in this park is the mesmerizing smell of all the varieties of roses grown here. It is said that there are more than 200,000 bushes of roses in this park.
This is a subjective list of cool places to walk in California, and there are many more to get the joy of walking. But, if you love walking, even ordinary pavement will do! Walking brings inner peace and confidence. But if you’re lacking self-esteem especially on your hair, you might need a hair transplant.
